English Speechwriting Summer Camp (June 27-July 1, 2016)
Posted May 18, 2016 in English
The Department of English, as part of an initiative by the School of Arts and Sciences, is organizing its second annual summer camp, targeting Grade 11 students. This year, the camp will focus on speechwriting skills, which are part of the department’s new B.A. in English which also emphasizes professional writing.
In order to apply, students should register by filling out this form. Applicants should take their time while filling out the form in order to express their ideas about speechwriting, their experiences, and their expectations of the camp.
The number of participants is deliberately kept low, as only 15 students will be accepted, to ensure that each camper gets sufficient attention and guidance from the writer-instructor. During the camp, the accepted students will receive guidance and practice in basic skills and techniques in speechwriting in English.
Gradually, they will learn how to write better, express their ideas more effectively, and feel more confident in expressing themselves creatively. By the end of the camp, each participant would be expected to present a 3-5 min speech on the topic they would have worked on during the workshops.
Interested participants should take the following dates into consideration:
